4-HR FLORIDA MASSAGE LAWS & ETHICS. Approved by FL BOM AND NCBTMB. CE Broker #20-10462

Approved by the NCBTMB for 4 "General" CE hours, not ethics. Any course from any provider offered as NCBTMB "ethics hours" must be a stand-alone offering focused solely on ethics; it cannot include other subjects. (If you need NCBTMB stand-alone ethics, see our "Massage Ethics" 4-hr home study that covers general/professional ethics, roles & boundaries, and cultural diversities and disparities).

Course Description: This law and ethics course equips therapists with essential information to understand and meet their legal and professional responsibilities concerning licensure and public safety. The content specifically addresses Florida massage therapy laws and related ethical considerations, in addition to general professional ethics. Laws focus on the Florida massage therapy statutes, including Chapter 480, Rules 64B7, and Chapter 456.

Participants will learn about the laws governing Florida massage licensure, how to compare and apply their understanding of board laws and rules to current business practices, to NCBTMB standards, and will engage with discussions on topics such as sexual and other forms of misconduct, associated penalties, inactive status, renewals, regulations for massage therapists in the armed forces, disciplinary actions, fee schedules, and licensure renewal for both therapists and establishments. Additional information includes details on related professional agencies and contact information for board counsel and staff.

2-HR Medical Mistakes and Errors. Approved by FL BOM AND NCBTMB. CE Broker #20-1299510

Description: Some state boards require this controversial study of Medical Mistakes and Errors each renewal period. Learn about the massage therapist’s role in preventing medical errors. Read how massage therapists lessen workplace errors and create professionally safe work environments. Stay informed through government and other respected research agencies, including ideas on solutions and defining legitimate errors and mistakes.

1-HR HUMAN TRAFFICKING: Approved by FL BOM AND NCBTMB. CE Broker #20-778172

Course Description: This one-hour home study program is a useful resource for those meeting CE requirements on the topic of Human Trafficking. If your state board does not require this topic, you can still use it for general hours. This was our first course on this important subject, initially recognized only by the FL BOM. Shortly after, the NCBTMB accepted this topic for CE credits. To satisfy a larger audience, we offer more courses titled "Human Trafficking in the Massage Therapy Field," which come in 1, 2, 3, and 4-hour formats.

No LMT likes the idea that a fake massage business exists where they work or live. Few consider or know that the people working there are coerced and forced into modern-day slavery and wish they had a way out. Who would have thought that health care professionals would play a role? This course discusses need-to-know information about human trafficking, its effects on the massage profession and how to make positive changes—also, defining and identifying victims and fake massage businesses, recognizing traffickers and their methods, differentiating between types of human trafficking, where to get help, knowing limits in helping, and more.
