APPROVED BY: FL BOM, NCBTMB, and State Boards Accepting NCBTMB Providers/Courses

Not Approved by LABMT.

Note: NCBTMB accepts this course as general hours, not stand-alone ethics.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Presented in discussion/lecture format, information in this law and ethics course assists therapists in understanding and acting upon legal and professional responsibilities attached to professional licensure and how those responsibilities relate to public safety. Based on Florida massage therapy law and ethics, statutes discussions pertain to Chapter 480, Rules 64B7, and Chapter 456. However, the purchase of this course is not limited to Florida therapists. NCBTMB therapists may also need to know about massage laws and rules in various states.

The course includes ethics and standards recognized by the Florida Board of Massage Therapy and NCBTMB for upholding professional standards that protect the integrity of the profession and safeguard individual clients' interests.

Know the laws that govern Florida massage licensure. Compare and apply board laws and rules knowledge to current business practices. Read discussions on sexual and other forms of misconduct, listing related penalties, inactive status, renewals, and rules about massage therapists in the armed forces, disciplinary actions, fee schedules, licensure renewal for therapists and establishments, related professional agencies, and board counsel and staff, including contact information.
